The Nigeria Communications Commission’s (NCC) report has revealed that telcos’ in the country gained over 800,000 internet subscribers in October 2019.
The report also revealed that Nigeria’s mobile internet subscribers totaled 123,206,103 in October. This total indicates growth from the 122,792,291 recorded in September 2019.
While MTN and Airtel gained over 800,000 subscribers (MTN – 488,120; Airtel – 420,031), Glo, 9mobile and Visafone all lost subscribers.

Globacom lost 370,845 internet subscribers, to total its subscribers at 28,995,634. While, 9mobile, lost 122,711 to total 8,346,229. Visafone also lost over 800 subscribers to a total of 82,427.
MTN retains its position as the market leader with 65,870,174 at 36.57%. Globacom follows with 50,255,796 at 27.9%. While Airtel is third in the Market with 49,081,899 at 27.25%. 9mobile retains its fourth place with14,792,206 at 8.21%. Visafone with 118,270 subscribers accounts for 0.07% of the market share.
9mobile has always been the King of Porting, but NCC’s October report has shown that Airtel dethroned them. As it became king with 11,868 incoming porters against 9mobile’s 6,410.
Airtel also recorded the highest number of users leaving its network at 4,696 subscribers. However, 9mobile recorded the least with 1,530 subscribers.
