Nigeria’s Internet Service Provider, ‘MainOne’ has made due on its promise to expand to other African regions. It has obtained a submarine cable landing license from the Cote D’Ivoire government to set up in Abidjan by October 2019. This was revealed by its MainOne’s Regional Executive, Kazeem Oladepo during the company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Abidjan.
MainOne will leverage the data centre to boost the growth of the broadband ecosystem, improve Internet access, subsidize bandwidth prices and create more means to access digital services. This listed service will be open to Cote d’Ivoire and other French-speaking countries.

MainOne with aims to strengthen the digital ecosystem in the free trade zone of Cote d’Ivoire, attract more businesses and foreign direct investment (FDI), has revealed that the Data Center will be situated in the Grand-Bassam technology free trade Zone, VITIB.
According to Kazeem Oladepo, MainOne invests in this infrastructure, with the hope to bring digital solutions to businesses and support them in their quest for improved productivity and efficiency through dedicated and reliable connectivity services. The company’s willingness to partner with operators to expand capacity in Cote d’Ivoire and neighbouring countries to enhance regional integration and global access is part of its commitment to deepen broadband access across West Africa.
MainOne in April 2019, collaborated with Facebook to deploy $20 million for the development of terrestrial fibre technology in Edo state, Nigeria. The project is meant to deepen broadband penetration in Nigeria and accelerate the digital transformation in Ogun State and Edo State.
