The New York Police Department (NYPD) has found dismembered body parts of Fahim Saleh, Gokada CEO in his $2.25 m worth luxury Manhattan condo apartment in NYC. His remains, together with an electric saw were found at 3:30 pm (New York Time) and 8:30 pm (Nigeria Time) on Tuesday 14th July 2020.

His sister called 911 when she went to check on him, having failed to reach him after a day. According to the police report, there were several large plastic bags in the apartment and it appeared that some efforts were being made to clean up the evidence.

Sources said that an elevator surveillance camera, on Monday, captured the victim accompanied by a man dressed in a suit, wearing gloves, a hat, and a face mask. Although detectives await the result of the fingerprint and forensics test, investigations are currently ongoing to discover the cause of his gruesome murder.

Fahim Saleh was born in July 1986 in Saudi Arabia to his immigrant Bangladesh parents. He grew up learning how to code and developed his first app as a teenager. He studied Computer Information Systems at Bentley University, Massachusetts.

Fahim Saleh died a 33-year old tech entrepreneur and founder of Gokada, a Nigeria-based ride-hailing motorcycle company. Gokada provided thousands of jobs for previously unemployed Nigerian youths until the recent ban of commercial motorcycling in some parts of the country in January.

He was also a founding partner at Adventure Capital, a Venture Capital based in New York, and the co-founder of Pathao, his other bike-hailing startup in Bangladesh.

Fahim’s murder came as is a huge shock to the African tech ecosystem. He was a self-made millionaire who started tech companies to meet the needs of locals in Nigeria and Indonesia. Twitter is currently agog with the news of the circumstances surrounding his death. We, at Techgist Africa, sympathize with the entire family of Fahim Saleh and the staff of Gokada for the brutal murder of their CEO.

Adieu, Fahim Saleh.
