Opera Limited, a leading global internet provider in Africa has officially installed its local servers in Nigeria. The servers were hosted within the MDXi Lekki Data Centre in Lagos State and the largest leading data centre in West Africa.

Opera aims to improve the browsing experience of its subscribers in Nigeria. The newly installed serves will speed up online browsing and enhance internet speed to be four times faster than before. This applies to the Opera Mini Browser and Opera News.

Krystian Zubel, the IT Director at Opera had this to say – “At Opera, we know how important speed is for people’s internet experience. With the launch of our first local data servers in Nigeria, we’re taking another leap forward in user experience, providing millions of people with a faster browsing news experience.”

A recent Worldwide Broadband Speed League 2019 report by Cable, Africa ranked among those with the slowest internet connectivity in 2019. With the installation of these servers, Opera is assisting the growth of the digital ecosystem in the continent.

In 2017, Opera announced its investment of $100 million to facilitate growth and to accelerate internet adoption in Africa’s digital economy. Its investment in digital infrastructure guarantees high-quality internet experience for millions of subscribers in Nigeria.
