Brainly, a P2P to edtech company based in Poland has raised $30 million in a Naspers led round with participation from Runa Capital and Manta Ray. The firm plans to utilize the funds to boost its user experience and also expand to the US.
Brainly was founded in 2009, it offers educational resources to students, parents and through a global online community. The firm has about 150 million monthly active users, with presence across 35 countries. It helps students strengthen their skills across core subjects like math, history, science, and social studies. This is achieved by connecting students with their peers, subject matter experts, and professional educators, who help them discuss their subjects and seek answers to tricky questions.

According to Larry Illg, CEO of Naspers Ventures, they are very much impressed by Brainly’s growth over the past 10 years, in the U.S, India, Indonesia, Turkey, and Brazil. He said they back companies seeking to address big societal needs like education. According to him, they help these companies fulfill their vision with the ultimate aim of achieving global scale. Brainly according to Larry, has the potential to serve the needs of hundreds of millions of students around the world.
Brainly combines online education, social media and machine learning to offer its crowd-learning model. The platform disrupts global $2.6 billion education market. Brainly grew from 100 million active monthly users to 150 million active monthly users between 2018 and 2019. The platform is headquartered in Kraków and New York City. Brainly believes that online communities can empower students from around the world with knowledge and information.
