Phanes Group—an international solar developer, investment and asset manager, headquartered in Dubai, UAE, has called on startups across Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) to submit for its Solar Incubator. The 2019 edition of the competition will be held in Dakar, Senegal at the Unlocking Solar Capital: Africa 2019 conference.
The Solar Incubator searches for innovative solar photovoltaic (PV) projects that it can support across sub-Saharan Africa. since its inception in 2017, it provides aspiring solar PV developers the tools they need to succeed, including funding and access to commercial and technical knowledge.
The incubator is aiming to bridge the gap of poor electricity across SSA. Considering that over 600 million people in the SSA region lack access to electricity. There is a need for cheap, sustainable, energy sources and the incubator aims to meet this need.

According to Martin Haupts, CEO, Phanes Group they launched the program in 2017 to identify the very best of the solar PV projects. Not just identifying them but to also aid reduce the knowledge and funding gap the project face in a collaborative way. He said they hope to enable participants to bring lasting positive change to their communities
All shortlisted developers will be invited to showcase their concept at the Unlocking Solar Capital: Africa 2019 conference, in Dakar, Senegal. The program is slated for the 16th-17th of October 2019. Interested applicants should submit their applications to incubator@phanesgroup.com. Application is open till the 4th of September 2019.
