Safaricom launches Udemy-like platform, BLAZE LINK

Safaricom’s subsidiary, BLAZE launched an edtech platform called ‘BLAZE LINK’. This e-platform that enables young people to learn new skills through online courses. The online edtech platform seeks to empower young people that are in pursuit of success.

BLAZE LINK will offer free online courses and also connect Kenyans aged  26 to job opportunities. It will also grant entrepreneurs more market visibility. The platform has partnered with Google, IBM, Wezesha, Cloud Factory and Brighter Monday to offer these free courses. Courses will span across disciplines like sales and marketing, finance, agriculture, creative arts, programming, development and more.

Michael Joseph, Safaricom’s acting CEO said that BLAZE LINK is a part of the Be Your Own Boss (BYOB) platform which focuses on empowering the youths, as they journey towards success. He said they are leveraging the power of digital platforms to reach people who cannot make it to the BYOB summits and creation camps.

Asides the free online courses, BLAZE LINK users will have exclusive access to master class videos from Kenyan artists. They will be able to access the videos from Kenyan businessmen on topics like Agribusiness, Creative Arts, Fashion, Film & Photography, Music, Technology and Production & Sales.
