Uzoma Dozie, the last Group Managing Director of Diamond Bank in Nigeria, is set to launch a new fintech platform called Sparkle — a mobile platform that focuses on the retail sector.

The platform will leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning to help retailers achieve their daily objectives and scale their businesses. This will be achieved through Sparkle’s suite of innovative lifestyle services. The platform will offer users support services, like inventory management, issuing invoice statements to foreign exchange services and a POS-via-mobile function.

Sparkle aims to build a unique community around Nigeria-based retailers and consumers through AI and Machine Learning. The platform aims to achieve this by influencing its user’s purchasing decisions through user-generated behavioural purchase data. This will dynamically support retailers by guiding the exact consumers their way.

The platform plans to drive financial inclusion and regulatory reform in the market by building a digital framework for retailers. The frameworks will be an avenue for retailers to register their companies, register for tax and domains. This process is also in a bid to bridge the gap between business advisory and regulatory services for the retail SMEs in Nigeria.

Uzoma Dozie, Founder and CEO of Sparkle says; “Sparkle is a product, a community, born out of necessity for Nigeria’s retail landscape. We will connect millions of retailers on a digital platform, provide a service they can trust, that is seamless, and that allows for frictionless transactions across all activities and business services”.

The platform which will launch later in 2019, will release plug-in APIs through which it will enhance convenience and service. This will grant external developers the opportunity to contribute and build solutions. Sparkle is in partnership with Visa, Network International, PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC), and Microsoft. The platform will also provide access to mentorship and development to SMEs.
