In order to bridge the digital divide and boost knowledge in rural Kenya, UNICEF and Safaricom have partnered to launch the Internet of Good Things. IoGT is a mobile package platform that offers life-saving and improving information for free even on low-end devices. The service will be accessed through Safaricom’s SIM cards, with Safaricom bearing the connectivity cost.

Well, the tech giant has gone through with its initiative as they launched an African Development Center in Lagos, Nigeria on the 18th of May 2019. The centre in Nigeria is the 7th global centre.
Remember we once reported that MTN has completed plans to list on the NSE with the registration of 20.35 billion ordinary shares for their IPO? Well, we found out that after their listing on the 16th of May 2019, the Telco did not offer an IPO but rather, a direct listing of their shares. This simply means that the listed shares are that of existing investors and the ownership of the company will remain the same.
Paxful— a bitcoin trading company that offer payment services through their wallet, has launched a series of educational workshops across Africa. The company aims to educate African youths on Bitcoin technology. The workshop already kicked off in Kenya and South Africa in May 2019, with the plans to expand to Nigeria, Ghana and other African countries in progress.
