Solride has joined the list of ride-hailing startups like Uber, Bolt and InDriver in Nigeria. It was launched this week by Solchos Kefani Limited in Lagos, Nigeria. The startup seeks to revolutionize the concept of ride-hailing in sub-Saharan Africa.

Solride is introducing several means of transportation into the ride-hailing transport system. These include cars, motorcycles and tricycles for ride-sharing and rental services. The aim is to provide riders with several options without having to switch between ride-hailing platforms.

Unlike other players in the market, Solride allows drivers to control the price mechanism algorithm. They will be able to control charges within a stipulated range during regular, peak and off-peak business hours.

The rider will know how much a trip costs without the fear of price change because of traffic jams. Both riders and drivers will be able to use various payment gateways in the app to effect transactions.

Also, Solride will be incentivizing drivers who drive safely and receive good reviews. They will be made ad-hoc shareholders and an opportunity to earn additional revenue. Riders interested to own, operate and manage fleets can do so via Solchos Kefani’s Digital Apprenticeship Program. Solride is also in talks with car rental firms and taxi operators interested in partnering with the platform.

According to Henry Adesegha, CEO of Solchos Kefani, Solride has plans to expand to other African markets by the end of Q1 2020. “We are aiming to disrupt, grow exponentially and expand to different cities across Nigeria, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ghana and Uganda by the first quarter of 2020,” he said.
