Sony Acquires Insomniac, the popular Spider-Man game developer

Sony–a Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation, has acquired Insomniac the Developer of the popular Spiderman game. The acquisition was done through its subsidiary- Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE)  and came as a need to solidify the duo’s business relationship.

Sony has been in collaboration with Insomniac Games for over 20 years. Through the partnership, they have produced over 20 games and obtained 6 franchises.

Reacting to the acquisition, Insomniac Game CEO, Ted Price said the decision to join forces with Sony follows their vision to impact lives and promote positive gaming experience.  He also believes that Sony shares the same vision with the gaming expert thereby sprouting the partnership.

Also speaking on the acquisition, the Chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Shawn Layden said the decision is meant to formalize the relationship between the two companies since Insomniac Games has been known to impact and set the pace in the gaming industry.

Further expressing its joy on the acquisition, the company has taken to its official Twitter handle-PlayStation to share the good news to their fans-‘We are honored and thrilled to join forces with legendary game developer-Insomniac’.

Insomniac Games will be the 14th in-house developer for Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Worldwide Studios (SIE WWS) and it has developed exclusive PlayStation games like Rachet and the popular Spider-Man.
