Camatica, a South Africa-based facial recognition startup has launched Mood Analytics, a facial recognition software. The software can recognize one’s mood just by scanning the person’s expression. Mood Analytics was launched in a bid to boost employee performance in the workplace.

Camatica was launched to give companies an edge over the happenings in their work environment and also find a way to boost their employee’s mood. They achieve this by leveraging video footage using computer vision algorithms. Camatica provides companies with face recognition software for VIP’s, shoplifters, shopper demographics, mood analytics, and retail analytics.

Laurence Seberini, co-founder of Camatica said, their product helps companies and bosses understand when their employees are experiencing challenges. This will help companies put solutions in place to help their employees. Through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), a busy boss will understand that a kind word or a warm cup of cocoa is not an invasion of privacy.

He also said that the use of facial recognition in the workplace help boost positivity. This will enable the employer to intervene in employee-related matters and reward good behaviour. He sighted that excellent attendance at work by valuable employees are sometimes missed by HR departments due to outdated clocking-in systems.

Camatica connects its software to a company or business camera feed. Through which it analyses the feed using computer vision. The platform was developed in the First Quarter of 2019.
