Remember when we reported the ban of commercial motorcycles in Lagos Nigeria that affected e-hailing startups in February? Now, e-hailing startups with more than 1000 registered vehicles will have to pay annual licensing fees of N25m while those with less pay N10m from 20th August 2020.
Kenya Food delivery startup, Twiga Foods has changed its planned expansion into West Africa. The startup intends to take advantage of the gradual easing of surrounding markets post-COVID-19 to expand its footprint. It is currently sourcing for funds to explore closer cities within East Africa.
Also, Kenya-based Compulynx has introduced an AI-based Contactless Thermometer to help contain the spread of COVID-19. The device utilizes advanced facial recognition technology to identify those wearing face masks and determines their body temperature from afar. Amazing right?
