Big news! Facebook is set to connect 23 African countries, Europe and the Middle East with a 37,000-kilometer undersea cable. Dubbed the 2Africa Project, the project aims to offer Africa better internet access in partnership with MTN, Orange, Vodafone and China Mobile.
Next, Ventures platform, a VC firm based in Nigeria has deepened its investment portfolio. The firm invested in new startups bringing its startup portfolio to 24.

Have you heard? AgVentures, an agrifood tech investment startup based in South Africa has secured R100 million investment. The firm plans to leverage the funding to accelerate its growth and reach.
Also, ORide is selling off some of its bikes in Lagos. While ORide will continue to function in Ibadan, the Lagos arm of the business will leverage the remaining bikes to pivot its new delivery service OExpress.
Finally, the US government has extended Huawei’s ban to 2021. This implies that the smartphone company will remain blacklisted to Android operating system, google applications, intel, etc. till May 2021.
