Drum roll! Safaricom has introduced a fee-waiver on M-Pesa. The waiver will see that all P2P (person to person) transactions below 1000 KSH will be free for the next three months. This waiver will help contain the spread of COVID-19 through the exchange of physical cash.

Next, thirteen Africa-focused startups have concluded the W20 batch of YCombinator. The startups include CrowdForce, SEND, Bamboo, Swipe, Termii, NUMI, WorkPayTambua, Yassir, Healthlane and Avion. They received $150,000 in seed investment after the training.

Call! The Africa Mobility Initiative (AMI) is calling Ugandan and Kenyan startups to apply for the Africa Transformative Mobility Accelerator. The six-month program will provide selected startups access to the mobility ecosystem in the countries and $25000 grant funding.

Also, Flutterwave has revealed plans to provide female-owned SMEs across five African countries with a grant to help boost their businesses. The grant of about $1000 will help them boost the volume of their annual transactions.

Finally, a Nigeria-based workforce management platform, SoftWork has launched a new work platform. The platform will connect freelance software developers to employers.
