Big news! WhatsApp has announced its plans to combat COVID-19 virus rumours with $1 million grant. The grant will help fact-check the #CoronaVirusFacts Alliance. Whatsapp is also partnering with the WHO and UNICEF to provide a global messaging hotline for people.

Next, MTN Uganda has revealed its plan to list 20% of its share on the Uganda Securities Exchange. This listing is part of its process to acquire a long-term license in Uganda.

So, Villgro, an innovation foundation in Kenya has awarded a total of $60,000 in grant funding to three African e-health startups. Two of the startups are from Uganda while the other is from Kenya.

Also, FCMB has launched a pitch challenge for early-stage startups. Dubbed EPIC Pitch, the challenge will help startups acquire product feedback, funding and partnership.  

 

Finally, Africa-focused public relations agency, Wimbart has launched a PR mentorship program ‘Wimbart Office Hours’. It will leverage the program to provide African startups with the required PR tools tailored to their business.
