Big news, four South African startups have secured over R2.7 million seed grants. The startups; Vekta Innovations, Opencharge Wireless Power Technologies, Quickloc8 and Smartroots secured the grant from the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA).

Next, Mastercard has announced the first cohort of its Innovative Teaching and Learning in Information, communications and Technology. The Centre selected 12 Edtech firms. It will help expand their operations and boost their teaching and learning across Africa.

Co-Creation Hub (CcHub) partnered the British Council and Beetfreeks Collective to unveil a co-creation lab dubbed New Narratives Pilot. The new lab pilot will provide solutions that will aid plural and diverse narratives in solving singular problems across Africa and the UK.

Also, Huawei has partnered Safaricom to launch 5G in Kenya. Safaricom will leverage the partnership to spread 5G connections across East Africa.

Finally, Vesicash, a fintech company based in Nigeria, has secured an undisclosed amount from Ingressive Capital. The startup will leverage the funding to grow its customer base and smoothen partnerships.
