Dubai-based Network International has acquired DPO Group, a Kenyan fintech startup for $288 million. DPO operates across 19 countries and processes$2 billion worth of transactions annually. This acquisition is possibly the largest in the African online payment space.
In Zimbabwe, Strive Masiyiwa is looking to sell up to 34% stakes of Liquid Telecoms for $600 million. It happens that he needs to repay a $375 million loan to Public Investment Corp by the end of August.
According to Airtel Africa’s Q2 Report, revenue grew by 13% despite the impact of COVID-19. The revenue growth was largely driven by the growth of our customer base, up by 11.8% to 111.5 million. Also, reported operating profit amounted to $210m in the second quarter.
