Liquid Telecom is not only to be addressed as Liquid Intelligent Technologies, but it also plans to lay off staff as it transitions. Notices have been sent out to inform staff of the forthcoming retrenchment as part of its restructuring plan. 

Nigeria-based Bus-hailing Platform, Plentywaka has secured $300k pre-seed funding from investors. It also launched its services and is offering free rides in Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria.

In Ethiopia, Ethio Telecom has split up its network infrastructure department into five divisions for service efficiency. The telecommunication monopolist is doing so to prepare for the liberalization of the telecom sector. 

Seacom, Limited, Africa’s first broadband submarine cable operator will increase the capacity of its fibre optic network by the end of August. It plans to spend $10 million to upgrade the 17,000 kilometer submarine cable and terrestrial network.

In South Africa, Telkom has launched a life insurance subsidiary as part of its diversification plans. It also seeks to expand its mobile payment app into an online market place for customers.
