LG Velvet 5G smartphone is now available in South Africa. Some of its specs include a 6.8 inch curved OLED screen with a 16MP selfie camera notch and a triple-lens setup for the main camera. Additionally, it has a 4300mAh battery that supports both wired and wireless charging.

We got wind that JumiaPay has been experiencing downtime in Kenya. For users who are wondering why card payments have been disabled, the online payment service provider is reportedly upgrading its fraud system.

Yoco, a South African fintech startup has launched an online payment solution. The plugin will allow users to process payments from WordPress and WooCommerce websites. Once Yoco is integrated on a user’s online store, his/her customers will see the Yoco payment option once they checkout.

Another SA-based company, Franc has raised $300k in an ongoing seed round. Franc is an investment Robo-advisor that helps people access equity funds from investors. Franc is still in the process of raising further funding to expand into other African countries.
