The General Manager of Uber in Sub-saharan Africa, Alon Lits noted that the launch will let Uber compete with thousands of taxi operators in Abidjan. it will also help cab drivers to gain new clients via the Uber app.

Beyond its cab-hailing service that runs in different parts of Africa, Uber also offers UberBlack, a luxury ride service, UberEats, and Uber Boat service.

Meanwhile, in a recent development, Uber CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi has revealed the company’s plan to expand its Food delivery model. The new model will let Uber run delivery services for any item.

Dara envisions Uber to be the Amazon (marketplace) for transportation that will offer any form of transportation like taxis, subway, scooter or uber cabs.
