According to Mariam Cassim, Chief Officer Vodacom Financial Services, the VodaPay Masterpass app is part of their plan to further satisfy their clients with Value Added Services. The Vodapay AppMobile communications company, Vodacom partnered MasterCard to launch VodaPay Masterpass – a digital payment feature. The new service allows Vodacom customers to add their bank card to the VodaPay Masterpass app’s digital wallet.
Vodacom subscribers will leverage this service to purchase; prepaid data, airtime, and SMS or voice bundles directly from the app. The service will also grant them the opportunity to pay their utility bills, cable fees amongst other things.

VodaPay Masterpass comes with an in-app Scan to Pay functionality. This accords users the opportunity to also the delivery of Vodacom’s Financial Services which encompasses digital payment, Insurance, Len pay for goods and services wherever Masterpass is accepted, including all SnapScan and Zapper merchants by scanning a quick response (QR) code.
Mastercard’s Masterpass was launched in South Africa in July 2014. The service has grown its users to over 150 000 retailers and billers nationwide. It is available to South Africans via the iOS App Store and Google Play Store.
