Vodacom Tanzania partners SmartLabs to invest $150k

Vodacom Tanzania has partnered with Smart Lab—a Tanzanian accelerator to invest over $150 000 in the Vodacom Digital Accelerator program. 

According to Vodacom, the newly launched accelerator program will help early-stage and growth-stage tech startups become profitable and revenue-generating businesses. It is a three-month program that will run annually. The program will identify and support startups across the mobile, telecom, fintech, media, health, education and e-commerce tech ecosystem. 

At the end of the accelerator program, participants will present their progress to a panel of investors. Top startups will be supported by Vodacom, Smart Lab and other partners for an additional six months at the end of the cohorts.

Vodacom Tanzania MD Hisham Hendi noted that this partnership is a vital move that is aimed at providing opportunities to startup businesses, which will in return, benefit communities.

According to him, startups and innovators will leverage the program to showcase their products and also gain partnership deals with Vodacom and mentorship opportunities. They will also gain technical assistance, marketing, exposure to Vodacom and Smart Lab’s large network of partners as well as access to customers, who they will utilize in testing their solutions.
