Huawei working on developing its own Operating System to replace Android OS for its mobile devices. According to ETNews, the company is doing this to respond to the challenges the company is facing in the US market.

According to a video posted on Weibo, a Chinese social media site and news site, Huawei Product VP, Bruce Lee disclosed that an alternative OS to replace Android is “under development.”

Unconfirmed reports have it that the new independent OS would be called “Kirin OS” and would only be available for Huawei devices and may be made available this summer.

In a similar vein, Huawei is about to launch its Nova 4 smartphone on December 17, Huawei’s first smartphone with the “hole punch display”. This implies that the display would have a tiny round cut-out to make room for the selfie camera.

Huawei is not the only phone maker working on this kind of screen. Samsung has also announced a range of new display concepts. This includes an “Infinity-O” display with the same feature like Nova 4.

2019 Galaxy S10 is rumoured to be among the first Samsung-branded smartphones to use the new display, but it seems Huawei might beat Samsung to release a phone with “hole punch display” first.
