Tiktok announced in a blog post that it now has more than one billion monthly active users throughout the world, making it the only non-Facebook or Google-owned social networking app to do so.
Despite an attempt by former President Donald Trump’s government last year to shut down Tiktok in the United States, the app’s popularity has grown.
While Trump’s campaign failed, the app has been banned in India and is under investigation by European regulators for its data privacy practices and children’s safety.
TikTok was effective in attracting more millennials and content creators during the pandemic.
During the pandemic, people spent more time on their phones, which increased Tiktok’s popularity.
