YouTube is set to bar implied threats, comments and hate speeches from users on its platform. The decision came as part of its latest updated policy.
Over the years, Youtube has taken a stand to delete content that violates users’ rights. The platform has deleted over 16 million comments and pulled down tonnes of video content this year.
However, the platform is increasing its fight against hate speeches as it creates a community free of harassment and cyberbullying.

The updated policy took a greater stance on threats and personal attacks. These attacks include implied threats and ironic comments/videos that can undermine the users’ or creators’ rights. Also listed in this category are content that may incite violence or suggest violence to users.
In addition to the above, the policy also extends its hate speech policy to include demeaning languages that go too far. The video streaming platform amply enunciates the rejection of hate speech, insult, racism, gender discrimination, and sexuality.
To combat the offenses listed above, the policy noted that it will:
- Suspend any YouTube Partners Program that exhibits any harassing behavior on the platform.
- Remove content, issue severe strike or terminate channels that repeatedly harass users.
- Remove any comment that violates the policy of the video streaming site.
