The Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) is now accepting nominations for its annual AWIEF Awards, which will take place in 2021.

The annual AWIEF Awards, now in its fifth edition, honor and recognize women entrepreneurs and company owners in Africa and across numerous industry sectors for their accomplishments and contributions to Africa’s inclusive economic growth and social development.

Emerging and established entrepreneurship in the private and not-for-profit sectors are covered by the AWIEF Awards.

Noninees for the AWIEF Awards are women who have demonstrated exceptional vision and inspiration while overcoming obstacles to make a significant social impact and/or grow their businesses in accordance with AWIEF’s core areas of innovation, technology, entrepreneurship, leadership, and socio-economic development.

“It was a wonderful honour to receive this award,” Daisy Mmabatho Molefhi, Founder and Vice Chancellor of ABM University College, Bostwana’s oldest private tertiary education institution, and last year’s winner in the category of Lifetime Achievement Award, said. I’d like to see a lot more women win this award. It means a lot to me, and I want to urge other women to enter or nominate someone so that Africa can see them.”

“We have been impressed by the caliber of entries over the years,” said AWIEF Founder and Chief Executive Officer Irene Ochem. This year, we anticipate submissions from entrepreneurs who will address some of humanity’s most pressing issues, particularly the present COVID-19 pandemic challenges. Each entrant is well-versed in the realities of the African continent, offering realistic solutions to pressing concerns.

We will continue to discover and bring these women to AWIEF in order to recognize and celebrate their commitment to making a difference in their nations and on the continent.”

The 7th Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) Virtual Conference and Awards, with the topic “Advancing inclusive, resilient, and sustainable growth in the post-COVID-19 African economy,” will reveal and celebrate the winners of the 2021 AWIEF Awards on December 2-3, 2021.

Global thought leaders, industry experts, policymakers, academics, development partners, investors, and the media converge at AWIEF’s premier annual event to talk, connect, network, share, collaborate, and transact in a joint effort to enhance Africa’s entrepreneurial ecosystem for women.

The AWIEF Awards are divided into eight categories:

  • Young Entrepreneur Award
  • Tech Entrepreneur Award
  • Agri Entrepreneur Award
  • Creative Industry Award
  • Empowerment Award
  • Energy Entrepreneur Award
  • Social Entrepreneur Award
  • Lifetime Achievement Award

The deadline for entries is August 23, 2021.

You can either nominate yourself or have someone else nominate you.
