The Business Technology & Innovation Support Fund, established by the Western Cape’s Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDAT), is now accepting applications.
Its goal is to address the issue of low productivity in Western Cape businesses and surpass global benchmarks by promoting digital transformation and adopting new technologies.
Through robust corporate, governmental, and community innovation, the Western Cape Government’s Growth for Jobs Strategy aims to establish the province as Africa’s hub for technology, finance, innovation, and design.
The ability of the technology and innovation sector to more significantly contribute to the digital transformation of enterprises and to create jobs and economic value through the establishment and development of digital businesses – from startups to scale-ups to corporates – will determine the Western Cape’s competitiveness in a future, digitally transformed world, according to a statement.
“The strategy to increase productivity improvements through technology adoption in Western Cape businesses is multifaceted, and it is complemented by complementary business/management support throughout the province.”
A fund has been established by DEDATs’ Business Technology & Innovation Programme for Productivity Boost to encourage efforts in two categories: those of individual enterprises and those of intermediaries providing business support programmes.
