Jumia has teamed up with Solartaxi, a modern eco-friendly mobility facilities startup, to provide consumers with economical and environmentally sustainable online order delivery.

This agreement exemplifies Jumia’s commitment to environmental stewardship. Consumers who order food, groceries, and other essential items on Jumia can have their orders delivered conveniently and environmentally friendly to their homes or offices by SolarTaxi riders, as part of a shared vision of ensuring a clean and sustainable environment using renewable energy, as well as the need to keep consumers safe, especially during the many waves of the COVID-19.

Tolulope George-Yanwah, CEO of Jumia Ghana, said of the celebration, “Partnering with Solar Taxi Ghana Limited allows us to play our part in keeping our environment safe.” For online deliveries, we use solar-powered cars and motorcycles to reduce gasoline emissions for all of our stakeholders. Our customers’ and delivery agents’ health and safety are top priorities. The use of solar Taxi bikes and cars also ensures affordability for our customers, as shipping costs have been minimized.

“Solar-powered vehicles consume no fuel and emit no pollution since they have electric motors. This conserves natural resources, reduces fuel costs, and improves driving comfort for all passengers.”

“Health is a big worry for everyone in today’s environment, especially disorders of the respiratory system.

As a result, we’ve teamed with Jumia Ghana to provide Ghanaians with environmentally responsible and inexpensive transportation via its online delivery service.

Over 20 solar-powered motorcycles are being used for online deliveries on Jumia in the initial phase of this relationship, with ambitions to expand to over 100 by the end of the year. In the coming month, both companies have promised to expand this service to other parts of the country.

“It’s important to emphasize that electric vehicles contribute to a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions in the system. As a result, Ghanaians will be safe in the twenty-first century. “We are overjoyed to be able to assist Ghanaians in staying safe, and together with Jumia Ghana, WE GO GREEN,” stated Jorge Appiah, CEO of Solar Taxi Ghana Limited.
