In a Tweet, Elon Musk, the billionaire founder of Tesla and SpaceX, said he is “seriously considering” creating a new social media platform. 

He didn’t go into detail about how or what the hypothetical social media site would look like. 

After saying that Twitter did not allow for free speech, Musk made the remark. 

Tesla’s CEO is unhappy that his tweets are being probed by regulators. 

Even if the court throws out a 2018 deal with the SEC that requires Musk to get pre-approval from other Tesla executives before tweeting about the firm, the regulator told a judge that Musk’s tweets about Tesla will continue to be valid subject to government scrutiny. 

Musk isn’t the first individual to forego mainstream social media networks in favor of creating his or her own. 

As part of the Trump Media and Technology Group, former US President Donald Trump founded Truth Social in February. Since January 2021, Trump has been barred from using Twitter. 

Free speech is a big thing on most alternative social networks. This often means that they’re home to people with the most extreme or politically charged views.
