Twitter has finally made it simple for users to report false or misleading tweets, in order to combat misinformation.

Twitter users in several countries, including the United States, will soon be able to report misinformation-containing tweets to the social media network, according to the company.

Twitter said the new tool was made accessible to a small set of users in the United States, South Korea, and Australia on Tuesday.

When users attempt to report a problematic tweet, the reason “it’s misleading” will now show as an option for them to select.

According to Twitter, the limited test may not result in any direct action on the tweets highlighted by users.

“While we may not act on or respond to every report in the trial,” Twitter explained, “your feedback will help us discover trends so that we can improve the speed and scale of our larger misinformation work.”

Twitter’s new feature follows in the footsteps of social media platforms like Facebook, which allow users to report inaccurate information about health, politics, and social issues.
