Tizeti, West Africa’s pioneer solar-based internet and voice service provider, has unveiled new connection services to help more Africans to take benefit of digital products in a new world defined by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The company’s commitment to expanding the broadband envelope in Nigeria with more robust internet plans, expanding coverage, particularly in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, and a focus on accelerating internet availability across the continent with a new venture fund are all reflected in the new products.

With a sophisticated customer care operation and integrated Customer Relationship Management systems, the items further reinforce the company’s commitment to delivering a simpler and more convenient technological offering.

Tizeti NeXTGEN, the firm’s Chief Executive Officer, Kendall Ananyi, said the company reflected on digital engagement and transformation being more fluid and intuitive for its stakeholders, especially in the aftermath of the disruption worldwide pandemic, during the company’s annual conference.

“The global epidemic has accelerated the demand for technology to be more agile, faster, more intuitive, and easier to grasp, regardless of its customers’ unique needs. Many people struggled to adjust to the new normal of working from home, communicating with family and colleagues via video conferencing and using virtual educational, vocational, entertainment, and other services. Many businesses took an unreasonably long time to react to the pandemic’s constraints, resulting in decreased production, unsuccessful change, and revenue loss. Technology is only helpful when it solves problems, and we feel that as a leader in West Africa’s digital sector, we have a responsibility to establish the technology platforms that will enable our user base to be agile and relevant in the coming years. We watched the shift from physical to virtual things in an instant and knew we had to help people and businesses adapt the way they work and play.”

Tizeti also announced a $5 million venture fund focusing on startup internet service providers boosting internet connectivity across Africa.

According to Ifeanyi Okonkwo, the company’s Chief Operating Officer, the company will use its proprietary OS technology, global partnerships with equipment vendors, submarine cable companies, payment providers, and venture firms to provide the resources needed for these startup ISPs to provide unlimited internet across the continent.

Successful firms will be invited to join in a three-month program at Tizeti’s headquarters in Nigeria or Ghana, where they will learn how to quickly deploy affordable internet services in their home countries.
