Renown tech analyst working with KGI Securities, Ming-Chi Kuo has released some hints about the upcoming iPhone. Kuo revealed that the yet to be released 6.1-inch model iPhone could feature a LCD display and may be accessible in two variations, one that comes with regular single SIM card support and the second with dual-SIM dual standby support.

Kuo also stated that the American tech giant will be releasing the speculated 6.1-inch LCD iPhone later this year alongside dual-SIM option. The single SIM iPhone may cost between $550 and $650, which the dual-SIM version of the 6.1-inch LCD model may be priced anywhere between $650 and $750. This affordable iPhone model is expected to come alongside a new 5.8-inch OLED iPhone that could be the successor to the iPhone X and a massive, 6.5-inch iPhone that is likely to be called the iPhone X Plus. KGI analyst opines that the dual SIM model is likely to increase iPhone’s market share in countries like China. Apple is expected to sell around 100-120 million units of the upcoming 6.1-inch LCD iPhone.

Recently, analysts from UBS said the price of the upcoming iPhone X 2018 model will be more than the current generation handset. the price of the 2018 iPhone X smartphone could hit $1100 mark, which roughly converts to Rs 72,100. This, of course, is a prediction and not an actual price. However, if the mentioned amount is anything to go by, expect Apple to launch the 2018 iPhone X in India at over Rs 80,000 for the base model.

Few things you need to know about 6.1-inch model iPhone

LG to provide 6.5-inch displays

According to report from Electronic Times have it that LG Display has an order with Apple to produce 15-16 million phone displays in 2018. The displays are reported to be 6.5 inches, which means LG is going to make the display for the larger iPhone X sequel; “iPhone X Plus”, while Samsung will continue to be the primary OLED display supplier for the new 5.8-inch model.

Customize Power Management Chip

A report from Nikkei Asian Review in November 30, 2017 claims that Apple is working on its own power management chips for iOS devices, which it will start integrating into iOS devices this year.

High-speed modems and improve antennas

Ming-Chi Kuo in 2017 maintained that we’ll see much improved cellular baseband chips in 2018 iPhones. It will again get chips from both Intel and Qualcomm, but most phones (70-80%) will sport the Intel chip, specifically an Intel XMM 7560 modem. The Qualcomm modem is expected to be the Snapdragon X20.

Apple’s largest phone ever

Base on report from Bloomberg, Apple will introduce its largest iPhone ever, a new phone the same size as the current iPhone X and a less expensive iPhone with some features missing. The larger phone to feature a 6.5-inch display, which is pretty huge. It will likely be positioned as the “plus-sized” iPhone, much like the iPhone 8 Plus is today.

Case Design

The 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will likely come with a metal case in different colours, and Ming-Chi Kuo’s report mentions the frame of the 6.1-inch phone will be aluminium. Currently manufacturers of iPad frames, Casetek could be the supplier for the cases.

5G Network

2018 iPhone may offer 5G technology which will go a long way in increasing data speeds. Business Insider reports that Apple applied with the Federal Communications Commission to begin testing a new wireless technology called millimetre wave. This technology allows devices to access more bandwidth than is currently possible on existing cellular networks.
