Dell announced its findings form the 2017 Women Entrepreneur Cities (WE Cities) Index at their 8th annual Dell Women Entrepreneur Network Summit. The results had revealed the top 50 global cities that are fostering high-potential female entrepreneurs.

Out of these 50 cities worldwide, Johannesburg placed 28th and Nairobi placed 33rd. These were the only two African cities to place on the list. The top places were taken by New York, the Bay Area, London, Boston, and Stockholm.

The executive vice president and chief customer officer at Dell, Karen Quintos stated that the rates of female entrepreneurship have been rising by about 10% each year.

She even goes on to say that women may be as likely or more likely than men to start a business in any given market.

One of the main problems that women face are the limits set by financial, cultural and political barriers. These barriers are often the reason why their businesses struggle to find success.

Karen Quintos also explains that if the city leaders and policy makers are given strong calls-to-action with well-structured research, they will surely be on board with the plan to improve the environment for successful women entrepreneurs.

The data that was gathered about prominent cities that support women entrepreneurships can be used as a tool to convince government officials to hold their end of the bargain and ensure that they are thriving.

All entrepreneurships that show high promise should be allowed to find their success all around the world without the fear of being discriminated against by gender.
