Ugandan Agritech startup, Agro Supply has been announced winner of 2018 Seedstars Kampala pitch event. Agro Supply is a platform that allows smallholder farmers to save money for agricultural inputs. The start-up emerged winner after defeating 10 other start-ups that pitched at the event which was held in Uganda.
The start-up will represent Uganda at the Global Seedstars Summit, Switzerland in 2019 where it stands to win up to $1-million in equity investments.
Agro Supply was founded in 2016 by CEO Ogwal Joseph, who is also a 2017 graduate of the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship programme.

In addition to helping startups save for agricultural inputs, the startup also offers agricultural extension services and helps its users access markets for their produce.
The start-up has recorded a 50% to 100% increase in harvest yield per hectare from some of its farmers and worked with 18 000 farmers. Digital asset exchange and crypto agent network CoinPesa was placed second, while fresh Food Delivery service Bringo came in third.
Seedstars World’s next African pitch event is set to be Seedstars Dakar next Friday (7th September).
