Green enterprises in Uganda are invited to apply for the accelerator program, which provides free finance-focused courses and subsidized loans to help them scale, with the goal of accelerating Uganda’s growth in the next two decades.
The Ugandan Green Enterprise Finance Accelerator (UGEFA) is a high-potential SMEs accelerator that focuses on eco-tourism, sustainable transportation, clean energy, green manufacturing, waste management, agro-processing, and converting raw materials into finished items.
The implementation partners adelphi and Finding XY will provide capacity-building and peer learning workshops as part of this scheme.
Banking partners will match firms after they graduate from the UGEFA program. If they show to be investible, they are given loans, with UGEFA covering 33% of the cost through EU funds.
Rainer Agster, an Adelphi board member, stated that the current pandemic is both a huge problem for all businesses and an opportunity for a greener economic transition.
The EU Uganda mission has completely funded the Uganda Enterprise Finance Accelerator, which is being implemented by adelphi Research GmbH.
The application deadline is November 30th.
