Big news! The African Development Bank has granted a $5 million grant to the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme. The foundation will leverage the funds to boost its initiative to impact 1000 African Youths.

It seems its Grants o’clock! The new Internet Society Foundation has released the first batch of its medium and large grants. The $12000-$30,000 were awarded to 13 projects that promote the internet across Africa and the world.

Next on the Big 5, Vodacom Tanzania and World Remit have signed a partnership deal. Tanzanians living abroad will leverage the deal to facilitate cross-border transfers to their families using M-Pesa,

Also, Rwanda’s indigenous smartphone Mara has received support from top brands in South Africa. Nedbank, Vodacom and Pick n Pay now backs the Africa-made smartphone.

Finally, London-based investment fund Apis Partners has secured $550 million funding. They will leverage the fund to scale fintech startups in Africa and Asia.
