Big news! Popular African company that identifies and develops software developers Andela, has laid off 420 junior software engineers in Africa. Next week on the Big 5, Angola is endorsing an electronic payment system that will facilitate foreign trade. The new system which was introduced by the country’s Ministry of Commerce, will see to the registration for import, export, and re-export trade, processes notable to be hectic due to some administrative procedures.
Also, The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced that nationwide cashless policy implementation will kick-off on March 31st, 2020. As regards to this, the apex bank has mandated all Deposit Money Banks in a circular to impose charges on deposits across the nation.
We also have news that, Little Cab—a Kenya-based on-demand ride-hailing company has introduced a WhatsApp-enable ride booking feature for its users. This process will help scale Little Cab’s reservation options for its users. Commuters across Kenya, Uganda, and Zambia will have the opportunity to hail a cab via their WhatsApp application.
Finally, Telkom—a South Africa-based wireline and wireless telecommunications provider is the official gaming and connectivity partner of Comic-Con Africa— the producer of pop culture events. The telecom has announced it will reward the winning team of the Telkom VS Gaming Masters Tournament with the sum of $77k.
