Karl Olutokun Toriola will take over as the CEO of MTN Group on the 1st of March 2020. He has worked for MTN Group in various capacities in the last 14 years. Truly, hard work pays.
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has approved MTN and 9mobile’s national roaming services trial. The objective of the trial is to promote network resource sharing among mobile operators.

In South Africa, Secha Capital, a capital holding company plans to invest R12 million ($30 million) in SMEs. They will take ownership of minority stakes from selected SMEs.
Also, in South Africa, Cape Town and Johannesburg have finally pulled off from the grid to utilize solar and power generated from landfill gas. This follows the approval from the Energy Ministry to wean off Eskom, the state utility monopoly.
Next, on the Big 5 Daily, Telkom is urging ICASA to probe into MTN and Vodacom’s network sharing deals with Rain, Cell C, and Liquid Telecom. Telkom is demanding that this is done before issuing licenses for them to operate 4G and 5G spectrum bands by March 2021.
