Money Farm, Gambian based agri-business platform has won the Seedstars Banjul pitch event. Founded by Modou N’jie who is the CEO and founder, the platform provides Africans in the diaspora and other investors around the world with potential Agri-investment opportunities in Africa.


South Africa’s Kalon Venture Partners and Mauritius-based Compass Venture Capital have invested US$500 000 (R7-million) in FinChatBot, a financial services chatbot developer. FinChatBot develops chatbots to help financial service providers acquire and retain customers through artificial intelligence (AI) powered conversations.


Moving on, 16 engineers across Africa have been shortlisted for the fifth edition of for the Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation in South Africa. This award is to organise by the Royal Academy of Engineering. See list of the shortlisted innovators here.


And finally, Cellulant, Pan-African payments company based in Kenya, has built Africa’s first Augmented Reality (AR) powered try-on experiences by Facebook Messenger. This will allow customers to discover and try products before they purchase.
