Coderina partners Google to coach 3000 Youths Under Google’s CSFirst Code Club, Publiseer wins First prize in 2019 Africa 35.35 Award and More

Drum roll! Coderina Education and Technology Foundation partnered Google to coach over 3000 youths through the Google CSFirst Code Club. This will be achieved through the introduction of the Code Club to over 100 schools and community centers in Nigeria. The CSFirst Curriculum will equip the youths with 21st-century coding skills, problem-solving, critical thinking and creativity skills. Applaudable!

Next on the Big 5, Carbon an instant loan, investment, and fintech platform is set to expand its services to Kenya. It also plans to deepen its offerings with micro health insurance services. The platform wants to launch a virtual Visa card for its users, and partner with M-TIBA—a CarePay Service to achieve the mobile health insurance service. Nice initiative!

We have news that Publiseer founder, Chidi Nwaogu has won first prize in the Entrepreneurship category of the 2019 Africa 35.35 awards. Chidi led 34 other entrepreneurs vying for first place. The 35.35 Award, formerly known as the Francophone Award, was founded in 2016 to recognize 35 Africans who are aged between 18 to 35 years. Congratulations!

Also, FairMoney, a licensed online lender that provides instant loans for urgent cash needs, has secured a €10 million Series A round. It will leverage alternative smartphone data to offer microcredit in Nigeria and also deepen mobile banking services, both in Nigeria and across Africa.

Finally, Google is looking to roll out Smart Screenshots, a feature that will enable online users to easily search for stuff. The screenshots will be taken via Google Lens, a new feature alleged to be part of its 10.61 Android apps. Do check the blog to read how this works!
