JUMO, a mobile financial services platform for mobile network operators and banks in South Africa, has closed $12.5 million investment. The funding round was led by Odey Asset Management and James Hanbury, a partner at the company will join the Board of JUMO.
Apple Inc, yesterday, said it would spend $1 billion to open a new campus in North Austin, Texas which will house up to 15,000 workers, new offices in Seattle, San Diego and Los Angeles. This is part of its bid to increase its workforce base in the U.S.
Ghanaian Parliament – majority head count – has approved an agreement with Fly Zipline Ghana Limited, for drone distribution of emergency health and blood products to the rural areas in the country. The deal worth of $12,527,000.00 and against opposition from the minority group in parliament, the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) and IMANI Africa.
Google has extended some of its Android features to iOS users. The ‘For You’ feature and Google Lens on Google Map will now be available for iOS users. IPhone users of Google Maps previously could not access the features which was launched early this year to Android users.
And finally, OffGridBox has raised $1.6M to charge and hydrate remote Africa with solar power innovation solutions. They use solar energy to provide electricity and potable water to small communities. Read more about the initiative in this piece by TechCrunch.
