Carbon has opened up its API dubbed “Carbon for Business” to SMEs and startups. It will provide customers with access to loans, secure online payments, funds transfers, payment solutions and tools for personal financial management.
A cybersecurity training company, KnowBe4 has entered into a partnership with Cyber Security Africa to scale global expansion. The duo wants to train end-users and minimize cyber risk. It will educate employees on how to identify phishing, social engineering and general information security.
More on cybersecurity, Microsoft East Africa partnered with SheHacks to support women in technology for this year’s Hackathon. The partnership aims to empower and inspire women to become the next generation of cybersecurity engineers. This year’s Hackathon hosted close to 300 young ladies from Kenya and trained them with skills for combating cybercrime.
Naspers Foundry, the investment arm of Naspers funds tech startups in South Africa. It was set aside to help talented and ambitious South African techpreneurs develop and grow businesses that improve daily living. Other startups from other African countries with business operations in South Africa will also be considered for the fund.
Finally, Safaricom has decided to stop the expiration of calls, SMS and data bundles. This follows our gist about the bar imposed on Telecom companies for expiring the mobile bundles of customers. This led to a court case where the Telcos were ordered to furnish users with current data tariffs on their website. Safaricom has adhered to the government and customers will be able to use their data bundles at will.
