Happy midweek guys,

The weekend is almost here, excited, aren’t we? We bring you a juicy edition of the Big 5 Daily,

Have a fun read!

Big news, Netflix picked up an original African animated series, ‘Mama K’s Team 4’. The series is the first of its kind African original animated series content for Netflix. Produced by South Africa’s award-winning Triggerfish Animation Studios and British kids’ and family entertainment production company CAKE. The show was created by Zambian writer, Malenga Mulendema and it features the life of four teenage girls recruit that were living in the future version of Lusaka, Zambia charged with the mission to save the world. You should look out for it!

Moving on, the ‘Dream Lab facility’- a creative and inspirational space for pupils to thrive and achieve their dreams with tools like; coding, robotics, programming, virtual reality and computer engineering, has been donated to Salt River High school by its alumnus Nadine Maselle. She did this in partnership with the Facebook Community Leadership Program and the Dream Factory Foundation. Nadine invested the $50,000 grant which she received from Facebook Community Leadership Program in her former school where she’s spearheading a gardening and recycling project with her school’s principal.

The International Finance Corporation has launched an acceleration program to support the fintech ecosystem in Egypt. The program aims to empower startups and entrepreneurs in the area of finance. The two-year program will be implemented by Egypt’s Pride Capital/Startup Bootcamp and the AUC Venture Lab. It will grant startups access to mentorship, business development, and technical trainings needed to attract investors.

In order to boost the entrepreneurship community in Nairobi, Kenyan Entrepreneurs– Havar Bauck, Preben Wik, Jesper Hörnberg, and Joram Mwinamo, have come up with the initiative — ‘Kaleidoscope Africa’ to promote the growth of businesses in the region. Tagged ‘The Understanding Gap: Kenyan Startups vs. International VCs’, the forum will focus on preparing Kenyan startups with means to attract foreign venture capitalists- by bringing entrepreneurs, investors and managers from well exposed international tech company to share insights on related topics that the startups will benefit from. Kenyan startups should look forward to this!

Finally, in a bid to subsidize the high cost of communications for business owners and corporate organizations, Telkom has rolled out Omniconnect. This is a cloud-based platform that allows businesses and corporate organizations in Kenya to communicate in the workplace efficiently. It has the gold and silver packages for corporate organizations. Brilliant initiative!

And that’s it for today’s edition of the Big 5 Daily!

Hope it was Engaging?
