Africa’s first Edtech incubator and seed investment program ‘Injini’ has selected 8 African edtech startups as members of its 3rd Cohort. The firm will provide all selected startups with $7000 grants, support from industry experts and skilled business mentors. The most promising startup also stand a chance to secure equity worth $70,000. The first phase of the program is ongoing until July in Cape Town, with the second phase to begin in September 2019.
Big news! British security software and hardware company Sophos, has released a new feature for servers with endpoint detection and response (EDR) ‘Intercept X’. this new feature will help IT, managers of different businesses, to fight against server attacks. Interesting, right?
The Q1 2019 financial report released by Nigeria Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS) revealed that the volume of POS transactions grew to 89 million higher than 83.8 million in Q1 2019 from 83.8 million Q4 2018. According to the report, the value of transactions in Q1 2019 dropped to N633.8 billion from N714.344 billion in Q4 2018.
Europe’s Adyen has partnered with Cellulant to provide payment solutions for international transfers in Africa. The partnership will grant African consumers access to transact with global brands in their local currencies. The partnership will also position Ayden and Cellutant as international payment providers in Africa. Day by Day, Fintech in Africa keeps taking a forward leap. Great stuff.
Finally, South African based agritech startup ‘FarmRanger’ has leveraged technology to track livestock. They deployed a mobile app and a GPS electronic collar, that when worn on the neck of the animal in the herd, notifies farmers through the app if there is an unusual movement within and around their herd. The farmer then tracks the GPS location to rescue animals. Isn’t technology awesome?
