Big news! Co-creation Hub (CcHub), a top innovation powerhouse in Nigeria has acquired Nairobi-based innovation centre iHub. This deal will see iHub retain its name and its team joins CcHUB’s wider central support and strategy network. iHub will also retain its senior management structure with CcHUB’s co-founder Bosun Tijani as CEO. Congratulations!
Drum roll! Mastercard has partnered Rabobank to grant one million farmers in emerging markets access to financial inclusion tools. The initiative will leverage Mastercard’s Farmer Network and Rabobank’s expertise to reach the food and agricultural sectors in Europe, Africa, and Asia. Great News!
There is news that Zazu a fintech platform based in Zambia has secured $1.4 million to scale its user base and also grow its team. The funding was secured from undisclosed sources. Zazu will be launching a prepaid card that can be used around the world in November 2019. It will be used across stores, ATMs, and e-commerce platforms that accept Visa or Mastercard.
Also, Microsoft, Mastercard, and the Hewlett Foundation have partnered to fund CyberPeace Institute, a platform that aims to protect vulnerable groups from hackers. The platform will provide technical support to groups that are victims of a hack. It will also publish public reports and technical details that will help track down a hacker’s identity.
Finally, the global search engine Google is set to launch a new cloud hub in Warsaw, Poland. Google will be partnering Poland’s Domestic cloud provider DCP to sell its Cloud Services in Poland. The partnership will grant indigenous Polish businesses access to take hybrid cloud services.
