Hi guys,

The weekend is almost here, and we bring to you a brand-new edition of the Big 5 Daily!

Excited?

Well, have a fun read!

Paga has partnered with WorldRemit to allow Nigerians in diaspora send money home through the WorldRemit app or website to Paga users in Nigeria. WorldRemit will leverage on this partnership to reduce excessive charges on money transfer outside the shores of Africa and also strengthen their presence in Nigeria. Interesting News!

Moving on, Uber has added the tipping feature to its app in Nigeria. This feature will be a means for riders to tip drivers whom they enjoyed their ride directly through the Uber App. After rating the driver, riders can choose to add a complimentary tip from a range of preset amounts or input the amount of choice. Tipping is only valid when using a card for payments.

Next on the Big 5, MTN Nigeria has met a requirement of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). They transitioned from a Private company to a PLC (Public Limited Company) so they can list on the Nigerian Stock Exchange for the public to buy shares. This is in fulfilment of their deal with NCC in 2015.

There is news that, Zipline has partnered with the Ghana Health Service to provide medical drones for delivery to health facilities across Ghana. Zipline leveraged on the partnership to expand outside Rwanda where they launched first. Suffice to say, drones are now used to perform last-mile delivery even in rural communities in Africa, considering that organizations like DHL and Amazon use it to deliver goods to its customers in the e-commerce sector. Great innovation, don’t you agree?

Finally, Co-creation Hub and Google for Startups has partnered to launch the PitchDrive II. The PitchDrive II will be an opportunity for 10 African hardware and advanced technology startups to spend three weeks across Singapore, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Seoul and Tokyo. The tour is aimed at facilitating collaboration between Africa and Asia and also strengthening technological growth. Application is open and will end on the 20th of May, 2019. Interested persons can apply here

There you have it on today’s edition of the Big 5 daily.

Hope you had fun?
