Rapiddeploy Receives 12 million USD from Samsung Next and Great Point Ventures, Publiseer wins Startup World Cup Nigeria Finals and More

We have news that SA tech startup, Rapiddeploy has raised $12-million from GreatPoint Ventures and innovation fund, Samsung Next. This funding will help the startup speedup development and deployment of its cloud based platform. Rapiddeploy enables public safety officials to reduce emergency response times and improve situational awareness. This is great news for the Startup!


Next on the Big 5, Nigerian based Startup, Publiseer has emerged the regional champion of the Startup World Cup Competition held in Lagos. Publiseer is a digital publisher that aids African artiste (writers and musicians) from low income communities to showcase and monetize their works. It will join other competitors from other countries in San Francisco USA to pitch for 1 million USD in investment.


The ‘Kenya-Tanzania Power Interconnection Project’ has commenced. It was funded with the help of a $258.82 million loan from African Development bank and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency and the project’s completion is slated for 2020. We have had so much news about deals being struck, it is quite interesting to report that execution has begun.


Moving on, Visa is expanding its fast-track program to aid fintech startups within; Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. The program has commenced in Europe, Latin America and Asia pacific. With VisaNet, Visa’s global network, and other digital solutions and growth capabilities, It will provide innovative fintechs with a faster and easier integration process.


Finally on the Big 5, The National Communications Authority (NCA) Ghana and Togolese regulator are looking to collaborate and resolve issues regarding the use of Radio Spectrum along the Ghana-Togo border. Consumers within the border have complained about accidental roaming charges and weak signals. The collaboration is aimed at finding the most efficient method for resolving interference of signals in the border region. This is a good development for the Ghana-Togo border dwellers!
