After an intense pitch session at the Meet the Farmers Conference grand finale in Dubai, Nigerian Agritech Startup, SmartFarm won the Innov8Agric Challenge Grand Prize, which was a sum of US$5,000. Qualitrace (Ghana), AgriQ & Automations (Kenya), Spiderbit (Rwanda) also pitched at the event These four start-ups had all earlier won the regional pitch competitions which was held in Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda and Nigeria.


Moving on, after Microsoft and Amazon announced their plans to establish a data centre facility in South Africa, Huawei has also announced that it will be building a data centre facility in Johannesburg to provide public cloud services.


Cisco has launched a R10 million Incubation Hub called Cisco Edge Incubation Centre in South Africa.  The new hub aims to help develop SMMEs in the digital revolution and fast track their entry into the market.


President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Alibaba Group Executive Chairman, Jack Ma have signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) to establish electronic world trade platform (eWTP) hub in Rwanda. This deal makes Rwanda the first country in Africa to establish an eWTP hub.


Elon Musk’s Fake Verified Twitter Account Duped Follower… Yesterday, November 5, Pantheon Books’ verified Twitter account appeared to have been hacked by an impersonator who in turn, impersonated Elon Musk in a tweet. The tweet claimed that Musk was giving away 10,000 bitcoins ($64 million) to people who deposited between 0.1 bitcoin ($640) and 3 bitcoins ($13,000) into a specific account to receive between 1 to 30Btc within the day.  Within hours, the account had raked in over $150,000 in 326 transactions.
