Hi guys, TechGist Africa is here again with today’s Big 5 Daily.

We begin with News from Naspers satellite television’s subsidiary MultiChoice.

They announced that the DStv Mobile service will close on October 31 2018. Launched in 2010, DStv Mobile TV which uses DVB-H technology allows users to access DStv on their phone, laptop, or tablet via a Drifta mobile decoder.“Over the last few years, technology has evolved as broadband access continues to grow. It’s not feasible to continue to maintain a separate land-based, dedicated network for this service alone, when an even better service can be offered to our customers on DStv Now via the Internet and Wi-Fi,” MultiChoice said.

Moving up north to Egypt, Sawari Ventures is set to Launch a $55 million Venture Capital Fund Later this Year or early 2019. Mohamed Ragaai, Head of Investment with Banque du Caire told Egyptian daily, Al Mal. According to him, other investors in the fund include National Bank of Egypt (NBE), Banque Misr and the European Investment Bank. He added that the country’s investment and telecom ministries are also looking into the option of investing in the fund.
